IIM Udaipur Campus

Nestled amidst the serene Aravali hills of Rajasthan, the IIM Udaipur campus blends modern design with the timeless beauty of its natural surroundings. Spanning over 300 acres, the fully residential campus offers a state-of-the-art learning environment, purpose-built for academic excellence, collaboration, and innovation. With smart classrooms, cutting-edge research centers, green architecture, and panoramic views of the Aravalli range, the campus provides a transformative space where ideas thrive and leaders are shaped. It is not just an institute — it’s a vibrant ecosystem that inspires reflection, exploration, and growth.

IIM Udaipur’s Iconic Campus

In October 2016, IIM Udaipur transitioned to its permanent home — a sprawling 300-acre campus nestled in Balicha, approximately 8 km from the city center. Surrounded by a 9.8 km outer boundary wall and a 3.5 km inner road loop, the campus offers a tranquil yet connected setting for academic excellence.

Architecture Inspired by Heritage

The design of the campus pays homage to Rajasthan’s rich architectural legacy. Drawing from the region’s iconic fortress-style structures, the buildings are thoughtfully laid out to harmonize with the natural terrain. At its core lies the Academic Block, flanked by serene lakes and layered courtyards reminiscent of Udaipur’s traditional chowks. A striking plaza adjacent to the water body serves as a vibrant hub for gatherings and large-scale events.

Sustainable by Design

Sustainability is at the heart of IIM Udaipur’s campus philosophy. A 500 KW solar power plant supports our commitment to renewable energy, while our green infrastructure aligns with the Institute’s mission to promote environmental stewardship. The campus is being developed in phases to become largely self-sufficient in water, energy, and waste management. Designed to meet the GRIHA LD 5-Star rating, every element contributes to conserving natural resources and supporting biodiversity.

Rainwater Harvesting & Water Independence

Set amidst steep slopes and valleys, the campus masterplan prioritizes water conservation. An intricate rainwater harvesting system, with check dams placed at strategic points, channels monsoon rains into a series of interlinked lakes. This not only supports self-sufficiency but also preserves the site’s unique ecosystem.

Zero-Waste and Eco-Friendly Operations

IIM Udaipur is committed to a zero-waste future. The campus utilizes DEWATS (Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Systems), vermicomposting, and biogas production to transform waste into valuable resources. These practices reduce the environmental footprint and exemplify sustainable living.
